Ron Derby Director

For 8 years Ron was the Director of Creative Services with xBx, a Web development firm in Highland Park, Illinois. He managed the xBx team of designers and was responsible for directing all aspects of project visuals. In 2005 Ron started his own full service graphic design business under the name Derby Design, LLC.

Involved in Scouting since 1979, Ron joined the Owasippe staff in 1988 and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1989. Ron worked five summers on Owasippe staff serving in a number of capacities including Owasippe Ranger in 1996. He continues to volunteer his time and efforts to Owasippe each year.

Ron joined the Owasippe Staff Association in 1991, served on the Board of Directors for 10 years… 6 of those as President. He has worked hard to grow the OSA and further its 30+ year-mission of fellowship and service to Owasippe. In 2008 he received the Honorary Life Member Award, the OSA’s highest honor.

Ron is married and now lives in Whitehall, MI. He is a graduate of Columbia College of Chicago where he earned a B.A. in graphic design.

Ron and his wife Susan have a deep devotion to the camp. “We love the Twin Lake/White Lake area and of course Owasippe. The land is beautiful and its magic truly changes lives. We have formed so many lifelong friendships and learned so many valuable life-lessons on Owasippe soil. We even met there and we were later married at one of Owasippe’s outdoor chapels.”
